I hate Bank of America!

Posted on October 10, 2007. Filed under: Credit Scores, Deals and Steals |

So back in the early days, Bank of America (formerly Seafirst) was my very first checking/savings account. Now I remember why I left.

As many of you know, I reopened an old card I had of theirs (formerly MBNA) to lengthen my credit history. It has a $3,600 credit limit on it. Toy credit where I am concerned, but that’s a whole different story. Anyway, I have been using it as my primary card lately (since I cancelled the Citi Dividend and rolled in the available credit to my existing Citi Card.

So I requested a credit line increase about a week ago and Friday I get back a notice that says “Sorry, no.” This was all so I could balance transfer $3500 from my Amex Gold to their card. And to make matters even worse, today I get an offer in the mail from them saying “Sign up for new (same card I have) and get 0% Balance Transfer until December 2008.”

Can you say “Blow me?”

In other news, my credit score has skyrocketed to 721 - mainly since I balance transferred a lot of debt to a business credit card (that they don’t happen to report on my credit file.) So my debt to income ratio now looks fabulous - and I can call the bank and tell them to drop the APR on my car loan.

Anyway Bank of America - I am done with you! As soon as I am out of this unemployment mess I am never using your card again! Will probably cancel the damn thing again too!

I hate bank of america too,,, I tried to pay off a negative balance that forced closed my account and they told me i had to reopen and account and pay $25 in order to do the right thing and pay off the grand old total of $19.04 that was negative. That is highly ridiculous and also to make me hate them more they left open a savings account that i didnt even know had and it contained 8 cents and they strted chrging me and making my bank account negative with all their chrges. I really hope they get they go under!!!!!!Fleet was great and big old Bank of garbage comes along and takes over!!!

I’m still waiting on a $50 gift card they’re supposedly sending out as forgiveness for a $150 payment they took straight from my bank account when they weren’t authorized to. As soon as I get that sucker in the mail, I’m calling back to cancel.

Although I almost want to leave it open and never use it, just to help my credit scores out. And I’m sure it generates paperwork on their side, so having it open costs them more in the long run. right? jab!!

LOL. So true Sarah! Hey - how long have you had a CC with Bank of America? Is your credit limit with them really that big it will help your credit score? Reason I ask is that I cancelled mine, even though it was one of my oldest cards, but it only had a $4000 credit limit. Instead, I kept my Citi which now has a $27,000 credit limit, and is my oldest card. I’ll love to cancel my Citi too, because I hate their service and BS, but my credit score would take too much of a hit. Bank of America, however, was an easy choice.
