Update
OK, so a lot has been happening since my last post. For starters, I switched to Quicken 2007 Deluxe. After being a Microsoft Money fan for almost 10 years, it was time to make the change. I found Quicken better at doing things like monthly cash flow, debt reduction, and everyday things like Healthcare Flex Spending accounts. But I downloaded off my trusty newsgroup - so I saved around $50.
Second, I got a HUGE bonus at work last week. I’m talking double digits. Little did I know almost half of it would go to taxes.
But it did give a $500 jump to my 401(K) so that was a welcome addition.
Anyway, here’s what I’ve done thus far:
- Contributed $3000 to my Roth IRA for the year (I know the limit is $4k, but I’ve got 3 months left to make up the difference)
- Paid off the remaining $1000 of my furniture that was on interest free financing expiring in January.
- Gave $1800 to my AMEX bill.
I have some left, but I’m holding it in anticipation of my next AMEX bill. I just put $750 of work into my car, plus a few Christmas presents and the $400 of onboard expenses from the cruise. All on the same billing statement. YIKES! I’m really working hard to meet my end of the year goals, but living on a single income is tough!
