Getting back on the wagon…

OK - so I’ve been out of the blogsphere for a while now… time to get back on the bandwagon. Not doing so well with the goals this year. I’ve been on a massive trip spree (5 weekends in 5 weeks) and it isn’t slowing down soon (Palm Springs this weekend and I’m heading out on a Caribbean Cruise in 3 weeks). Anyway, as a result, I’ve been quite exhausted, and so is my AMEX.

$1500 is coming due on my furniture account at the beginning of November. The gist is, pay now or suffer $600 in back interest charges and a 22% interest rate. So I paid off $500 of it and Balance Transfered the other $1K to my Citi account at 0% - no fee. While this is the ideal solution for not being able to pay this balance - (who can ask for better that 0%) - I’m tired of just moving debt - I want to get rid of it! End of the year is coming, and while I know I have until April 15th - I haven’t contributed a dime to my Roth IRA for the year. This is VERY very bad!

Anyway, the silver lining in this cloud is that I finally did find some great term life insurance - 500K for 30 years @ $290 annual premium. I was paying $160/yr with IDS (read Ameriprise here) and only getting $100K. Worse than that, my premium went up every few years where the Prudential $500K is LOCKED. Looking for a new home for my retirement funds - like a “set it and forget it” plan. Anyone who’s switched lately, please email me!
